Cleaning Wax From Floors

If the wax is fresh and still malleable you may need to hold the ice cube for a minute or two. Lay the ice on the wax. If you re trying to remove wax from linoleum floors use diluted isopropyl alcohol to scrub the floors. Then a fresh layer of wax can be applied to the clean floor to give a fresh clean start.

Make sure the floor is thoroughly clean and apply one or two thin layers as directed. Allow it to sit for 10 15 minutes. Deep clean heavy dirt and grime buildup. Try working in sections with a mop and going over it with a dry microfiber cloth on a dry mop.

Simply hold the ice cube in place on the wax for 30 seconds even if the wax has already cooled. Even freshly washed and waxed floors. These products protect the floor from stains by putting a nearly impenetrable layer of wax on top of the floor so that substances that would stain the floor cannot come into contact with the actual floor. Take care to dry any remaining water as standing water can easily damage the surface of hardwood floors.

Plastic spatula or scraper make sure this is plastic because metal will scratch the floor furniture wax. If your no wax floor loses its shine restore it with a polish or sealant made for no wax flooring. Many floor cleaning products have a wax that adds shine and gloss to a vinyl or linoleum floor. Applying more wax only makes the problem worse.

Leaving hot water on your flooring long enough to dissolve wax is just asking for the water to seep through the cracks swell the wood and ruin your floor. Then let the solution sit on the floors for 10 minutes before scrubbing it in with a sponge. When the whole floor is stripped of wax to remove wax buildup give it a final cleaning by mopping the surface of the wood with hot water. Once the wax is nice and firm take the scraper or spatula and gently pry the wax off the floor.

You really want the wax to get nice and solid. The nwfa approved method to remove wax to make many cleaning jobs easier you can go to the store and buy a special implement that automates the task or at least eliminates the need for hard. Many newer floor manufacturers recommend. When wax builds up on vinyl and linoleum flooring it can result in a discolored yellow tone.

Waxed floors such as linoleum or vinyl can flake or become yellow due to age or too many layers of wax. The original wax must be removed first.
