Clean Up Sticky Residue

Clean up as much as you possibly can while the resin is still wet.

These can be found in most home improvement and hardware stores. Wash and dry the item as you would normally. Certain restorative solvents such as speed cleaning s furniture feeder dissolve wax buildup on wood furniture. If the residue remains try spot cleaning with detergent applied directly to the residue.

Scratch away the residue with your fingers or something plastic after you let it soak. Clean the surface with a solvent like denatured alcohol or acetone. Many commercial stain removers can work wonders so try soaking the area thoroughly letting it sit and then laundering on a gentle cycle. Be sure to apply the solvent to a disposable polishing cloth or directly to the furniture.

Once all the rubber has been removed you should end up with just the bare plastic that the rubber was adhered to. Give it a final wipe with a clean cloth and you re done. Soak part of a clean cloth or paper towel in rubbing alcohol. Plastic can also get sticky as it accumulates residue from your hands if something gets spilled on it or if there is leftover adhesive on it from a sticker or glue.

Heat the oven to 350 degrees f. I grabbed a towel to clean it up but it was sooo sticky and i was in a bit of a rush to get somewhere. Keep re applying on the rubber and rubbing with a cloth. When the proper temperature has been reached place the silicone pieces in the oven for 10 minutes.

You can get rid of sticker residue on clothing made of natural fibers by rubbing the spot with acetone nail polish remover applied to a clean cloth. Dissolve the residue with rubbing alcohol vodka or vinegar. Removing adhesive residue from fabric and clothes requires a gentle touch to avoid damage. To get rid of sticker residue on clothing made of synthetics place the item in the freezer for 45 to 90 minutes.

You can go in. If this method doesn t remove the sticky buildup completely move on to a product made specifically for cleaning wood. Wipe off solid surfaces with a paper towel. Once it gets sticky and starts to cure the paper towel will stick to the resin.

Use a clean section of the cloth each time. You should then power up the part and ensure it still works ok. I promised myself i would clean it up the next day. If silicone pieces are really sticky and washing doesn t seem to be cleaning them easily you can use the oven to help speed up the process.

We were having friends over for dinner that evening so i hid the mess by placing a kitchen towel at the bottom of the drawer and moved on. This will remove remaining residue. If the risk of damage is too great to attack the residue with a scraper the other option is to apply a solvent to break down the adhesive properties so you can wipe the residue off.
